Steve Carell is this year’s it-guy thanks to hits like The 40 Year Old Virgin and the American remake of The Office, but his true fans, such as yours truly, worshiped him long before he was playing a jerk on NBC and instead was limited to playing a lesser jerk on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.

Of his many, many hilarious TDS segments, my favorite was one of his faux weight loss “Slimmin’ Down with Steve” segments. The piece in question chronicled his attempts to modify his diet, and was funny in its own right. The real hilarity, though, happened back in the studio, during an obviously unrehearsed attempt to eat something that looks like it should be edible but clearly, tragically, hilariously isn’t. I’ve never been able to find that particular part of the segment online, until yesterday. Watch it courtesy of YouTube here. God bless the Internet.

See also some of his hilarious work with Stephen Colbert.

Oh. My. God. That was gross, but in the best possible way.

And look at how not grey Jon Stewart’s hair is.
