If you read my site at all, I’m sure you don’t doubt that I love the Nintendo Wii. My experience with the little white console has thus far been limited to two games: Wii Sports and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Both are fantastic. These two games alone make me yearn for my own Wii. Wow, the previous sentence just kind of writes its own jokes, doesn’t it? Really, Nintendo probably should have kept calling it the Revolution.

Anyway, my one and only point of concern with the Wii is that it might repeat the Gamecube’s biggest mistake: one great game every six months. Compare the Gamecube’s library of must-have titles with, say, the Playstation’s, and it’s clear that Nintendo lost on that count.

I need there to be at least three great games on the Wii before I commit to buying one, and now there are. Alright, technically it’s not a new game; it’s a Virtual Console release. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, originally released on the Super Nintendo, is now available for download at a cheap price. As opposed to the usual policy of releasing a handful of retro games every week, Nintendo opted to make Zelda the lone release this time around, and really, it’s all you need.

If you’ve never played it, please let me assure you that The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is one of the greatest games ever released for any game platform. Ever. In every way. The game is inarguably a masterpiece and quite possibly flawless. It is still exactly as fun to play today as it was fifteen years ago.

To be fair, I fully acknowledge that I am absolutely the person in the third panel of this comic. What can I say? I know what I like.

I just bought Z:LTP this morning, actually! Noticed it was available when I went to check out the new News Channel.
