Recent posts indicate that I like leaves. The image above would also indicate that I like leaves. Of course, the image above isn’t exactly an image. It’s more of a snapshot. It didn’t come from Photoshop or any of the wild new breed of image editor. It came from the a screensaver that I built, one that I would now like to share with you. It’s called Falling Leaves.

Bring a little abstract foliage to your computer, just in time for Thanksgiving! Or whenever! Foliage rocks all year long!

Requirements:

• Mac OS 10.5 (might work on 10.4, but I haven’t tested it UPDATE: Does NOT work on 10.4)
• Functioning eyes (apologies to the visually impaired)

Instructions:

• Download Falling Leaves and place it in Macintosh HD > Library > Screen Savers
• Select it from the Screensaver panel of System Preferences
• Enjoy
• Thank me (optional)

Configurable Settings:

• I couldn’t decide which combination of background colors looked best, so I copped out and made it an adjustable setting.
• You can also adjust the Leafiness. This is by far my favorite thing to adjust.
• By default, a title card with my name and website is briefly displayed when the screensaver starts. Please know that you can turn this off.

I’m sure certain aspects of this thing could have been built better, but I don’t care. The making of Falling Leaves was a great experience for me. I think there will be some more writing to come from it.
