It is a war simulator, in a smaller and more defined way. Also it wasn’t until the ’80s and ’90s that the NFL recognized the kind of shit playing football for 10, 15, or 20 years did to your body. Most of the offensive linesmen and defensive dudes from the 1950s-1970s have little in the way of a pension, wildly tragic TBIs or at least severe joint damage, and little in the way of resources to pay for medical bills. Remember kids – sustained blunt impact to your HEAD will screw you up. Whether’s its boxing or football (and I imagine more people actually get injured in football), it just ain’t pretty. Play soccer instead.

This is one of the main reasons my dad hates football as well. He calls it “just an excuse to watch people get hurt.”
