haikus: movie reviews

Here are reviews for three movies I caught recently on video, presented in haiku format (plus).
Balls of Fury. Ugh.
What a waste of good Walken.
Boring and aimless.
It does for comedy what an instruction manual would do for an umbrella.
Hairspray’s song and dance
Is good, but tends to drag on.
This won eight Tony’s?
Was it a slow nomination year or something? Also, can you spot the play on words in the second line? If not, let me make it obvious.
Stardust, the movie,
Isn’t quite like Gaiman’s book,
But still has its charms.
Seriously, you won’t regret watching it, if I didn’t get that across in the haiku. Robert De Niro’s character doesn’t really exist in the book, but I rather liked what he adds to the movie (and so will you, I’d wager). “I prefer to travel by candlelight.“
