how to be a psych geek

I’m not a college student anymore. Old news, I know, but the ramifications of this change are still sinking in. For one thing, I no longer have ready access to the latest developments in psychological research. You people have to remember that I’m a dork at heart, and if you’re going to take away my access to cool research findings you might as well take away my access to water and vitamin C.

For a while I thought that I could satisfy my needs at World of Psychology, but that focuses mostly on clinical psychology, the stuff of personality, mood disorders, talk therapies, and the like. Sure, it says, “psychology,” but that’s like assuming a person will be intersted in any video labeled “pornography.” The clinically focused articles were rarely to my interest (of course, when I retrieved the URL to write this entry, they had a link to an awesome article on how the brain is not a computer). So I’ve deleted World of Psychology’s feed and at last found Cognitive Daily, a site chock full of the fascinating research on perception and thought that turns my crank. Expect to see links from it.
