question of the day: extras

In a post about interesting interview techniques, David Ng reveals that one of his favorite questions to use is, “If you could be an extra in any movie, what movie would that be?” His personal answer is Star Wars, hands down.

As for myself, I’d like to be an extra in Hero, specifically, one of the calligraphy students. Something about doing calligraphy in the sand while calmly ignoring an invading army has always appealed to me. Plus, you get to wear a really awesome red robe.

Now comes the part where I ask for responses even more shamelessly than usual. If you could be an extra in any movie, what movie would that be? Leave a comment.

I have been an extra. Maybe it was just the crappy, low-budget movies I was in, but it was an entirely overrated experience.

I too was an extra in a small, very low-budget film made on a rooftop in Brooklyn sometime in summer 2002. It wasn’t a fun experience as I spent most of the day sweating in the summer heat, and I was only needed for an hour of actual shooting.

Anyway if I could be an extra in a movie the public as heard of, it would have to be “A Clockwork Orange” as I’d love to get dressed up in one of those futuristic costumes and sit in the psychedelic Korovo Milkbar listening to Beethoven.
