the disappearing, reappearing stevphens
Comedy Central recently requested that the majority of Daily Show/Colbert Report clips be pulled from Youtube. This puts a damper on my “Comedy Central is uploading its own clips” theory, doesn’t it? Practically in the same breath, however, Comedy Central announced that it would make each previous day’s Daily Show available for free, in its entirety, on its own site. This gives credence to my “piracy evolves into legitimacy” theory. So I’m 1-1 on half-baked media theories, which is not a bad record in the grand scheme of things.
Still, most people don’t like it when they had something, and suddenly that thing is taken away (spoke to any Republicans today?), and some Even Stevphen clips are already popping back up on Youtube. It’s great that Comedy Central is finally embracing the internet as a real entertainment venue, but it’s not going to put the genie back in the bottle.
