the scariest/coolest thing i’ve seen all day
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Undercover. This application comes with a web-based activation code that you use only if your computer has been stolen. Once the code is entered, Undercover will:
- Transmit the thief’s IP address to Undercover’s servers.
- Transmit periodic screenshots of the thief’s activities to the servers.
- Use your computer’s iSight (if available) to take photos of the thief.
- Fake a hardware failure to tempt the thief into visiting a Genius Bar.
- If taken to an Apple store, will recognize the IP subdomain and display a message for Apple staff.
- Amaze you that such things are possible.
- Scare the crap out of you that such things are possible.
Oooh… That certainly would have alleviated some worries a few months ago.
