the tangent universe is collapsing
I just watched Donnie Darko for the first time. I would like to emphasize “for the first time,” because it’s the kind of film that just begs to be watched over and over. I’d link to its website, but you get a lot more out of it after you watch the film, and without having seen the film you’ll just get confused and creeped out.
IMDB’s plot summary leaves much to be desired, but trust me, this is a great movie. It’s a very deeply layered psychological thriller. There’s also a small dose of science fiction that blends so beautifully with the characters and plot that you practically forget it’s there. I nearly cried at the end.
I am SO buying the DVD. UPDATE: Bought the DVD. Got so excited to have my hands on it that I accidentally tore the plastic covering clean off the case. The box art is now being held in place by Scotch tape.
