vote for zen

We have a midterm election coming up tomorrow, on November 7th. I know that to a lot of people, the midterms are like the Stanley Cup to a Presidential election’s World Series. Sure, we keep hearing about how the Stanley Cup is important, with its long history and all, and yet it’s so very hard to care.

Well, we should all care about this one, because for the first time in twelve years the midterm elections stand a real chance of changing the landscape of American politics. The current White House, love them or hate them, has always operated under the luxury of complete control of the legislative branches. This has created an administration that knows nothing of compromise, and such a government flies in the face of what American democracy is supposed to be. If the Democrats win the House, Senate, or both, suddenly negotiation and moderation will become the only way to get things done, which is something we haven’t seen since the Clinton administration. It’s the way this country is supposed to run.

So get out there and vote. I know people don’t come to this website for my political insights. People barely come here for anything at all, I believe. But I still felt like this needed to be said. These midterm elections are not about losing some kind of moral majority, activist judges, or even national security. It’s about restoring the balance to democracy.
